Abstract

This community service aimed to improve public knowledge and awareness in preventing hypertension through sodium intake control, nutritional status monitoring, and increased physical activity. The implementation method involved community-based health education using counseling, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations of healthy lifestyles. The program targeted individuals of productive age within the public health center service area, supported by healthcare professionals and community health cadres. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest to assess changes in participants’ knowledge. The results showed a significant improvement in community understanding of hypertension risk factors, particularly regarding salt consumption, balanced nutrition, and the importance of regular physical activity. In addition, participants demonstrated more positive attitudes toward adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors in their daily lives. In conclusion, community-based health education is effective in enhancing public knowledge and awareness in preventing hypertension, and it should be implemented continuously and integrated with primary healthcare programs.
